BD Continues to Be Dominant, Although Now She Has Company

Weeks 5 and 6 Quickly Recapped Before Jumping Into Week 7

Effective date: 2014-10-20
Although it’s not "tomorrow morning", it is still “tomorrow” so I’m going to consider it a short-term win. The first thing I’d like to do is fill in the large gaps that my previous multiple week absence has created. Although the numbers are all up to date, the recaps have been lacking, and for that I apologize. October ended up being quite a month for me as I’ve already flown 14,000+ miles so far in October, and we’re only three weeks in. My sincere apologies to leaving you all out to dry. This is a post in which I take pride and will work to show you my dedication for the remainder of the season. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s take a quick look back at Weeks 5 and 6 before taking a deeper look at the intense Loner Pick and GOO weekend we just had in Week 7.

When Week 5 wrapped up, we saw the heavyweight slugfest between DP and BD intensify as BD once again claimed the top spot away from DP. Nearly all of membership tallied wins in the double-digits in Week 5. SS had his strongest week of the season with 13 wins and jumped three spots in the rankings. BD, BS, JD, and LF all had strong performances with 12 wins, and each of them moved up in the ranks. DR and JP also recorded 12 wins, and stayed put in their position. All of that is impressive, but none of it touches the lights-out performance recorded by CM in Week 5. The only thing between CM and a coveted Perfect Week was Kyle Orton’s few moments of Buffalo Brilliance, which made Orton king of Western NY for the week. CM recorded a very impressive 14 wins and was thisclose to perfection! Well picked CM!

Week 6 brought us a tie game (CIN vs CAR), which was fitting because Week 6 wrapped with five players tied for first place. BS, KS, and LF all had a brilliant week, each with 12 winners, and found themselves in a tie with BD (who once again recorded a double-digit week) and DP, who had a strong showing with 11 wins. SS and TB both had impressive weeks and both moved themselves up in the ranks by two and three positions, respectively. There were seven Loner Pick attempts in Week 6 and KB was the only success story with his incredibly pick of DAL over SEA. Who could have possibly seen that coming? KB, that’s who!

That brings us to this week, Week 7, which also shaped itself out to be a wild ride! Not only were there seven—count them, seven—players with the same GOO this week, there were also a whopping TEN Loner Picks! BD continued on with her dominance and recorded yet another double-digit win weekend! In seven weeks of playing, BD has only missed the double digit mark one time, and she had nine wins that week! Very well done BD! BS and KS had equally impressive weeks and found themselves tied for first place with BD for the second week in a row. While they had well played weeks, both DP and LF fell in the rankings as the remaining first place finishers continued to surge. One player who has been playing very consistently and having great week after great week has been JD. JD has found himself in the top 30% of the standings week after week and is maintaining his sturdy footing. I’m sure I speak for others when I say bravo, JD, and more importantly, I have my eye on you.

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, there were a staggering 10 Loner Picks in Week 7, and KB, MM, and DP all successfully picked winners. KB had the foresight to pick Tannehill’s MIA to have a strong showing against a struggling Jay Cutler and CHI. DP somehow had the presence of mind to pick a hot and cold KC to win on the road at SD, against a very strong Phillip Rivers. And finally, MM claims the Pick of the Week with his pick of STL over a SEA team that was just coming off a loss to DAL the previous week. Heck of a pick MM and likewise to KB and DP!

The majority of membership had yet another strong showing, which now brings us to three weeks in a row of 10+ win averages by membership. We will see how well membership’s strong showing will fare against the dreaded MIP, which we may be facing this week. Week 9 is the official halfway point, so here’s to hoping for a strong Week 8! Enjoy your weeks and have a wonderful Sunday!

Happy Picking.
