BD Un-Phased by the Week Two Picking Lull—Back to Back 10 Win Weeks
There are at least 4 more weeks until the MIP…what happened??
Effective date: 2014-08-19
If you’re active on the Message Board, you would have noticed that BS summed up Week 2 expertly with, “crazy weird week…” And, if you’re not active on the Message Board, get on it! What a crazy weird week, indeed. Last week I shared some encouragement that although Week 1 results were down, Week 2 was generally on the upswing and membership would hit its stride. Scratch that…and reverse it. Membership averaged a MIP-esque 8 wins in Week 2, which is down considerably from the 11+ wins we averaged in Week 2 from last season. All of these numbers are great for referencing and we will return to them, but let me point out one important fact in my pontification: although BD is part of the “we” mentioned above, she is certainly on another level so far this season.
In a relatively weak first two weeks from membership (or perhaps I’m just projecting based on my performances), BD recorded 10 wins in both Week 1 and Week 2 and currently sits the throne by herself. BD’s Pick of the Week was Dallas over Tennessee, and it is important to point out that her grandson MS was the only other member to make that pick. Must be a family connection on those wins! In related news: DP, if you want to send me some good vibes this week, I’ll take it.
Speaking of MS, he too seems to be relatively unaffected by the picking lull, as he snagged 9 winners this week to move up the ranks to join last week’s leaderboard (BS, DP, KS, and LF) in second place. Along with MS, there were several members with 9 winners, including JD, KB, TB, and a special shout out to MM, who tallied his 9 win week on the back of his gutsy Loner Pick of St. Louis over Tampa Bay! Well picked, MM!
Looking forward to Week 3, there are a lot of good match ups coming up this week, so don’t be surprised if we have another terrific batch of GOO waiting for us on Sunday. The PFVCC stands apart from the rest of the football viewing community as a gritty group of individuals, and I have full confidence that our picking percentage will increase at some point in the next one to three months. And hey, if it doesn’t, that just makes it more competitive (right?)!
In a final note, please join me in extending a very special congratulations for TB for joining the Millennium Club and picking his 1,000th winner this past Sunday. Hip hip, hooray! Happy Picking.
