Has the MIP Cometh Early?
SS Holds on to the Penthouse; Lead Narrows to One Game
Effective date: 2017-10-09
Greetings PFVCC faithful! After four weeks of being neck deep in diapers, Iโve returned to provide insight on our great football league, all while neck deep in diapers!
A very big thank you to SS for manning the helm for Weeks 1 through 3 and a very special shout out to our reigning champ KS for providing us with a wonderful edition of the PIG last week. Iโve ordered Jurapโs Cheese Traps for my Kris Kringle this year. Youโre welcome.
On to Week 5. Yikes. On quick review, Iโm tempted to ponder aloud, or in writing, if this week's results were a victim of the MIP. On my second pass at the data, I noticed that the numbers have a different story to tell. While six of the fourteen players scored below the .500 mark, there were also six players with nine or more wins, three of whom had ten wins.
Three 10-4 weeks out of fourteen players doesnโt really feel like the MIP. Then it dawned on me: it was just a really bad week for the NFL, and for home teams in particular.
Moving on: excellent picking was done by BS and KB this week, both of whom tallied 10 winners. Honorable mention goes to LF and MM for both grabbing 9 winners in Week 5. Well done, gentlemen! MS stayed consistent this week, pulling in a respectable 8 wins and is now tied for second with JP and MM, just one game back from SS, as we head into Week 6.
The biggest take-away from Week 5 was that the top of the pack leveled out. Given that we really are entering into the MIPโs territory and that only a handful of wins separate the top half of the standings, anything is possible in the coming weeks.
Happy Picking.
